Attempted Murder Suspect Sought By UC Police

Union City, Tenn.–Union City Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in the Attempted First-Degree Murder of a Union City woman on Wednesday.

Police are seeking Rasheed Weeks, age 20, of Union City, who is charged with shooting a female victim in the back of the head.

Around 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, UC Police officers were dispatched to 531 Nash St. Apt 92 in reference to a female who had been shot in the head.

When officers arrived they found victim, Tamya McGhee, age 18, inside Apt 92 with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Ms. McGhee was conscious, but was not able to give a statement.

Investigation revealed Ms. McGhee had been involved in a domestic dispute with Rasheed Weeks.

According to Union City Police, during the argument, Weeks fired one round from a handgun striking Ms. McGhee.  Weeks was seen fleeing the scene on a bicycle prior to officers’ arrival.

Ms. McGhee was transported by ambulance from the scene to the Baptist Memorial Hospital helipad where she was flown to The Med in Memphis for treatment. It is believed Ms. McGhee will recover from her wound, according to the UCPD.

Warrants have been obtained for Rasheed Weeks for Attempted First Degree Murder and Unlawful possession of a weapon. Weeks was arrested by the 27th Drug Task Force 08/29/23 for unlawful Possession of a weapon. He was released 09/01/23 on an own recognizance bond.
