Camden, Tenn.–A large crowd was on hand for the annual WRAP Jam in downtown Camden Saturday and organizers are still feeling the glow. Niki Simko said, “We had the biggest crowd yet and it was phenomenal!!”.
The audience was entertained with the popular band Levon and Johnny Mac of Paris, who opened the program. Simko said, “It was an amazing day – and I was shocked that we had over 400 there with all the other festivities happening, including the Bargain Highway and the first Tennessee game of the season.”
The day was jam-packed with music, good food and activities. “We had an awareness ride with more than 30 jeeps from the Ridin’ Dirty Jeep Club and 10 from the Punishers Reconciled Chapter and we were fighting the 30-mile yard sale to ride for awareness. They raised over $1200 for us”.
District Attorney Neil Thompson noted that this is his first anniversary as prosecutor and Shelly Morris was announced as the local prosecutor in charge of domestic violence cases.
Survivors of domestic violence spoke of their experiences from the stage and Jane Etheridge of Paris spoke about the clothesline project.
Simko spoke about how abuse isn’t always physical and how controlling and intimidating it is, with the mental and emotional toll it takes on the survivor.” She told survivors they don’t have to suffer in silence.
