Mr. Reuben H. ‘Chief’ Brown’, 86, of Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Houston County Community Hospital.
He was born Tuesday, June 1, 1937, in Gallatin, Tennessee, the son of the late William McKinley Brown and Julia Bailey Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Robert Ray Brown and Kenneth Ulysses Brown.
Reuben was a hard worker and provider for his family, working as a warehouse and shipping clerk for many years.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Reuben loved spending his time outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years: Joy Wyatt Brown; son: Michael Brown (Haley); daughter: Lisa Brown Harris (Rodney); granddaughter who was raised as a daughter: Robin Ross; step-son: David Lohr; brother: James Brown, five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and expecting two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Tennessee Ridge Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2023, with Bro. Steven Cathey officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the funeral service. Burial will follow at Stewart County Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
