McKenzie, Tenn.–Dr. C. Scott Shepherd is joining the staff as the Associate Director of Renaissance at Bethel University.
For the past six years, he served the Tennessee Baptist Convention as Worship and Music Specialist. A graduate of Shorter University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Scott earned his doctorate in Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies.
Scott is president of the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference and has over 30 years of experience in worship and music ministry. Currently, he is Interim Minister of Music at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Nashville, and has served churches throughout Tennessee as Interim Pastor, Interim Pianist, and Interim Worship Pastor. For the past six years, Scott has directed the Tennessee Men’s Chorale and Tennessee Ladies Chorus, as well as serving as a clinician and worship leader at state, regional, and national events. For several years, he traveled and performed with his musical family, The Shepherd Family.
He was formerly the Associate Pastor of Music and Worship at First Baptist Church in Paris.
Scott is married to his college sweetheart, Traci, and together they have four children: Jordan (21), Iris (18), Gideon (16), and Grace (14). They reside in Henry, Tennessee.
