Joyce Dean Ballentine, 89, of Paris, Tennessee, died Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.
Joyce was born Friday, May 25, 1934, in Buchanan, Tennessee, to the late Leonard Virgil Clayton and the late Vela Lamb Clayton.
She retired from Humboldt General Hospital where she worked in administration. Joyce graduated from Buchanan High School in Henry County and was a member of East Wood Church of Christ in Paris. She loved doing yard work and enjoyed playing games & working puzzles with her friends at RoseStone Retirement Community.
She was married to William E. “Shine” Ballentine, who preceded her in death. Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Thompson; and one brother, L.V. “Pete” Clayton, Jr.
She is survived by one daughter: Rita (Patrick) Stacey, of Paris; and one son: Mike Pflueger, of Buchanan, TN.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street/PO Box 788, Paris, TN 38242. Visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 11:30 pm – 12:30 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Buchanan, TN, with John Dale officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will follow the graveside service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
