Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Sheriff Josh Frey concentrates on his culinary concoction during Monday night’s Battle of the Badges cookoff at the Henry County Fair. Frey, Paris Police Lt. Jamie James, Paris Firefighter John Roaten and County EMT Steve Cook competed for the title and bragging rights for their department. The event was patterned after TV’s ‘Chopped’, with the competitors not knowing the ingredients of their meal until they began the contest and Organizer Jenny Walker presented them with three ‘secret ingredients’ at the start of the competition–cottage cheese, corn meal and pork chops. Cook won the contest with a meal of smashed potatoes, fried cornbread fritters, stir fry, sliced tomatoes and pork chops. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
