MARTIN, Tenn. – On the heels of one of the most successful seasons in the University of Tennessee at Martin’s NCAA Division I baseball history, Skyhawk head coach Ryan Jenkins has announced new job titles for two members of his coaching staff. Bill White is now associate head coach while Alex Lozado has been bumped up to full-time assistant coach.

In 2023, UT Martin broke 19 school records en route to the program’s most Ohio Valley Conference victories (14), which tied for the second-most wins in league play. The Skyhawks also produced their highest MLB Draft pick in school history (Caleb Hobson, 13th round to the Colorado Rockies), the school’s first-ever OVC Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-American pitcher (Zach Wager) and most All-OVC selections (Wager, Andrew Fernandez, Blaze Bell, Mac Danford, Hobson) last spring.

White wrapped up his second season at UT Martin and seventh year as a collegiate assistant coach in 2023. The Alexander City, Ala. native works primarily with the Skyhawk pitchers, overseeing a staff that combined for 12 saves (second-most in school history) and dialed up 381 strikeouts (fourth in the school’s NCAA Division I Era) last season. UT Martin also allowed the fewest home runs (24) of any OVC school in league play in 2023. Following nine seasons of playing professionally (including two seasons with the Texas Rangers), he graduated from Jacksonville State in 2014.

Lozado concluded his first year as the Skyhawks’ volunteer assistant in 2023, joining UT Martin fresh off a collegiate playing career at South Florida. Serving as first base coach, he helped guide an offense that led the OVC in batting average (.329), on-base percentage (.409), runs scored (191), hits (276) and doubles (63) in conference games. The Skyhawks also set a school record with 115 doubles last spring. A Georgetown, Ind. native, he graduated from USF in 2022.
