The Dixie Announces 2023-2024 Season Performance Series and Pop-Ups

The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce its 2023-2024 Season which kicks off in September. The intimate venue has scheduled its lineup with 2 ticket drops and pop-up events, all jam-packed with a wide variety of world-renowned artists.

POP-UP EVENTS
KT TUNSTALL / Sat, Sept 9, 2023 – Kicking off the season with a pop-up show, Grammy-nominated pop star KT Tunstall burst onto the music scene with her 2004 multi-platinum debut, Eye to the Telescope, which spawned the global hits “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See.” 

ILUMINATE / Sat, Oct 28, 2023 – Described as “The BEST NEW ACT in America!” during their run on America’s Got Talent in 2011, iLuminate fuses technology and dance, reawakening your senses and imagination! Audiences will see dancers in electrified glow-in-the-dark suits performing dynamic routines and illusions on a darkened stage. It’s a show that’s completely unique to their  brand and incomparable to any other dance performance. 

DESIGNING WOMEN CURATED MARKET / Fri, Mar 15 + Sat, Mar 16, 2024 – Back for the third year in a row is West TN’s favorite shopping experience. Hosted inside The Dixie Carter PAC’s 3-story venue, get ready to shop and support female-owned businesses from all across the state from candles, clothing and cookies to pampering services including facials, botox + more! Tickets for this event will be on sale in early 2024.

BETHEL UNIVERSITY RENAISSANCE THEATRE PRESENTS ANASTASIA: THE MUSICAL / Fri, Apr 5, Sat, Apr 6, Fri, Apr 12 at 7P and Sat, Apr 13 at 2P & 7P – From Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family. Bethel University’s Renaissance Theatre program is sure to bring this story to life in a creative and exciting way! Tickets for this event will be on sale in early 2024.

EXILE / Sat, Oct 14, 2023 – Exile, formed in 1963, has topped both the pop and country charts during their nearly 60-year-long career. Their most successful hit, “Kiss You All Over” spent four weeks at the top of Billboard’s pop chart in 1978. In the early 1980’s Exile started to focus on country music with ten No. 1 singles including “I Don’t Want To Be A Memory” and “Give Me One More Chance.” The hit song “Kiss You All Over” was used in the 1996 Adam Sandler movie Happy Gilmore and in the 2006 film Employee of the Month. They have toured with acts including Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, The Oak Ridge Boys, Kenny Rogers and The Judds. The 5 original Exile members re-formed in 2008 and continue to tour today. 

SHENANDOAH / Sat, Oct 21, 2023 – Fueled by Marty Raybon’s distinctive vocals and the band’s skilled musicianship, Shenandoah became well known for delivering hits like “Two Dozen Roses”, “Church on Cumberland Road” and “Next to You, Next to Me” as well as such achingly beautiful classics as “I Want to be Loved Like That” and the Grammy winning “Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart” duet with Alison Krauss. The boys from Muscle Shoals have left a potent legacy in country music with more than 300 million streams, over 8 million combined album sales, and 13 No. 1 radio singles over the course of more than three decades.

 

AN EVENING WITH CRYSTAL GAYLE / Sat, Nov 4, 2023 – Inducted into the Grand Ole Opry as a member in January 2017 by her sister Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle has received countless recognition for her lifetime achievements in country music including the 2016 Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award and her own star on the fabled Hollywood Walk of Fame.These honors are fitting tributes to Crystal who has been a favorite of audiences of country and popular music since attaining national prominence with her first chart records in the mid-seventies. Crystal has released over twenty number one hits and has been awarded numerous times by the Grammy’s, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music, the American Music Awards, and the American Music Operators Association. 

HIGH ROAD / Sat, Nov 18, 2023 – Since the group’s genesis, High Road has garnered a Grammy Nomination for the album, “Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout”, the Singing News New Artist of the Year, a Dove Award nomination for Bluegrass/Roots Album of the Year, and Singing News Band of the Year for 2022. They regularly perform at leading country and Gospel music events including 40 Days at the Ark Encounter, Singing In The Sun, Women of Joy, The National Quartet Convention, Dollywood and open for groups like the Isaacs and The Oak Ridge Boys. In 2019, they signed with Daywind Records and joined their artist roster, completing their newest, self titled album, High Road. 

BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY / Fri, Dec 22, 2023 – Since its formation in the early nineties in Ventura, California, the band has toured virtually nonstop, performing on average over 150 shows a year, and has produced a sizable catalog of recorded music, with sales of over 2 million albums to date. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s efforts to promote and revitalize swing music have taken shape as much more than a simple tribute. Taking inspiration from the creators of this uniquely American art form, the band’s original horn-infused music and legendary high energy show introduces the genre to a new and younger generation while remaining cognizant and respectful of the music’s rich legacy.

Frank Ferrante in An Evening with Groucho / Sat, Jan 20, 2024 – Described by The New York Times as “the greatest living interpreter of Groucho Marx’s material,” Animal Crackers and A Night at the Opera co-author Morrie Ryskind called him “the only actor aside from Groucho who delivered my lines as they were intended.” Discovered by Groucho’s son Arthur when Frank was a drama student at the University of Southern California, Frank originated the off-Broadway title role in Groucho: A Life in Revue (written by Arthur) portraying the comedian from age 15 to 85. For this role, 23-year-old Frank earned New York’s Theatre World Award and an Outer Critics Circle nomination. Frank has now performed the Groucho role over 3,000 times in more than 500 cities. 

Travis Ledoyt’s Sun and the Stars / Sat, Feb 3, 2024 – Travis Ledoyt is a singer, songwriter and performer who gained notoriety with his tribute to Elvis Presley starting in 2001. He’s since garnered high praise from those who knew Elvis personally and was dubbed “The World’s Best Young Elvis”. He’s opened shows for Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley’s Comets and Johnny Rivers. Though based in the US, he’s performed around the globe from Hong Kong to the UK. The biggest compliment Ledoyt has received came from D. J. Fontana who was Elvis Presley’s drummer, “This is as close as you’ll get to seeing a concert by Elvis Presley in the early years.” 

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band / Sat, Mar 2, 2024 – Achieving mainstream success in the 1980s with the “Eddie & The Cruisers – Motion Picture Soundtrack,”  the hit single “On the Dark Side” held the “Number-One” position on the Billboard Rock charts and the MTV video charts for five consecutive weeks and sold over 3 million copies. As of 2012, John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band remains a top concert attraction touring nationally on an annual basis and they have placed new songs into the soundtracks of several major motion pictures including “Jersey Girl” and the smash hit “There’s Something About Mary.”

Shadows of the 60s: A Celebration of the Stars of Motown / Sat, Mar 9, 2024 – Paying tribute to the tremendous legacy to the Motown greats, this highly interactive and visually stunning production will cover hits that span several decades. Close your eyes and you will hear the magic of Motown, open them and you will see and feel the raw “front row” experience of attending a live Motown concert, circa 1964. The evening is capped off with a jaw dropping grand finale featuring the music of Motown’s Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, Junior Walker & The Allstars, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Contours and more!

The Machine Performs Pink Floyd / Sat, Apr 20, 2024 – With stellar musicianship and passionate delivery, The Machine explores collective improvisation rivaling that of an early 1970’s Pink Floyd, while their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays and lighting continues The Floyd spirit of the 1980’s. The band is also known for recreating entire albums as a part of their show, accepting requests from fans, and for taking an A – Z approach in which one song is played for every letter of the alphabet.
