downtown-fatality

Paris, Tenn.–A pedestrian was killed this afternoon in downtown Paris.

Paris Police officers are presently on the scene of the scene of the accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of West Wood St. and North Market St.

Assistant Police Chief Ean Reed said, “The pedestrian was transported from the scene by Henry County Emergency Medical Services to the Henry County Medical Center Emergency Room where the pedestrian was pronounced deceased.”

Paris Police are on the scene, currently investigating with the support of the Tennessee Highway Patrol Critical Incident Response Team.

West Wood Street is closed between North Market Street and Fentress Street while the incident is being investigated and citizens are urged to avoid the area if possible.  More information will be released as it becomes available.

This is the second pedestrian fatality in downtown Paris this year. In mid-February Commercial Bank & Trust employee Kathy Sadler was killed when she was struck at the Wood and Brewer St. intersection.
