Buchanan, Tenn.–Paris Landing Firefighters and board members are celebrating the recent arrival of a 1999 Pierce 100′ Aerial Platform Quint Ladder Truck.

The truck replaces the department’s 1986 75′ Ladder Truck. That truck was recently taken out of service after failing a ladder test and was declared unsafe to use.

Fire Chief Reggie Coles said, “The newer truck is a welcome addition with better capabilities for the taller structures in our area, including  the new Inn at Paris Landing State Park, the Breakers, Pleasant Place condominiums as well as various other structures.”

The truck also helps meet the standards for the department’s ISO class 6 rating, he said.  Purchased at a fraction of the cost of a new truck it comes with a current DOT Safety Inspection, a current Ladder/aerial device test certification, and a current pump certification.  All hydraulic systems have also been rebuilt.

“This truck represents Paris Landing Fire Department’s ongoing efforts to provide the best possible fire protection at the most economical cost to the citizens and visitors of our area.  Paris Landing Fire Department would like to say ‘Thank You’ to the residents of our area for their kind donations which has helped to make this possible.”
