Dyerburg, Tenn.–K9 Rex of the Dyersburg Police Department is home recovering after he was injured when lightning struck near his kennel earlier this week. Rex was off duty and his partner K9 Officer Brandon Haynes said Rex showed obvious signs of distress and rushed him the Animal Care Clinic in Dyersburg.
The Dyersburg PD announced this afternoon that Rex received wonderful care by the team at the Animal Care Clinic, and they are happy to report that he is at home recovering. Rex will remain in a non-enforcement status while he continues to recover.
Officers said, “On behalf of K9 Rex, his partner Officer Haynes, and the Dyersburg Police Department we would like to thank the Animal Care Clinic, and everyone who has reached out with well wishes to Rex. The photo of Rex was taken this morning while he enjoyed playing with one of his favorite toys.”
