Bettye Jane Heggie Ford, 93, of Buchanan, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 9, 2023.
Bettye was born Tuesday, July 1, 1930, in Erin, Tennessee, to the late Ernest and Gracie Lewis Heggie.
Bettye was the owner & operator of Whispering Pines Café in Buchanan, Tennessee, for more than 50 years.
She loved fishing, reading, watching old western movies, eating sweet treats, and visiting with her family, friends & customers.
She also loved all animals, but cats were always the closest to her heart.
She married Roy Henry Ford Tuesday, July 26, 1949, and he preceded her in death Sunday, February, 21, 1993. They loved to travel and lived all over the US. She was especially fond of their time and adventures in the western states.
She had one son, Jacky Roy Henry Ford, Wednesday, August, 23, 1950, and he preceded her in death Friday, August 28, 2015.
She is survived by three grandsons: Timothy Roy Ford Warren, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Bradley Lee Warren, of South Jordan, Utah, and Zachary Taylor Capps, of Hazel, Kentucky; several great-grandchildren; and longtime family friends: Natalie Hickman and Robert “Rookie” Edwards.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Thelman Baggett and Forthey Waggoner; and two brothers: W.G. (Dick) Heggie and James D. Heggie.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St. Paris, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
Following the service, the spreading of her ashes will be conducted at the Lewis Family Cemetery in Erin, Tennessee.
