Paris, Tenn.–In a crowded courtroom, bond for the man charged in the vehicular death of a Paris attorney in 2022 was reduced during a court appearance in Henry County Circuit Court today. Some 80 people were in the courtroom in support of a bond reduction in the case.
A Henry County Grand Jury indicted Clinton Cole Rogers of Scotts Hill earlier this month and a $1M bond was set. He was charged with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of an intoxicant or drug. The grand jury had indicted Rogers in the death of Paris Attorney Bill Neese, which occurred on July 16, 2022. Neese was crossing Hwy. 79N at the time of the accident.
At Monday’s hearing, bond was reduced to $100,000 with two stipulations: that Rogers wear an interlock ignition system on his vehicle and that he must wear an alcohol monitoring device at all times.
The indictment charges Rogers with vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of an intoxicant or drug. According to the indictment, his blood alcohol content was “.08 percent or more, being 0.162 percent, thereby committed the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.”
Rogers is represented by Jackson Attorney Joe Byrd. Appearing for the state were Assistant District Attorneys Andy Clark and Morgan Crocker. Circuit Court Judge Bruce Griffey presided at today’s hearing.
