First Annual ‘Go Green Boat Races’ Set At Paris Landing

Buchanan, Tenn.–In celebration of National Marine Day, the Paris Landing State Park and Keep Paris/Henry County Beautiful will be hosting the first annual ‘Go Green Boat Races’ Saturday, July 22.
You can participate by building your own boat using recycled materials and racing them against other participants.
All materials must be recycled/trash- cardboard, recycled plastic bottles, recycled plastic, empty barrels, etc. Except for binding materials (screws, nails, staples, glue, rubber bands, tape etc.).
The event will be held at the Marina from 1-3 p.m.

Price:
  • $5 / Small Boat 1 foot or less
  • $10 / Medium Boat 1.1 foot to 5 foot
  • $15 / Large Boat 5.1 foot to 10 foot

*No motor engines allowed. Wind powered boats only!

There will be 3 categories to choose from and 4 races:

1. Boats 1 foot in length or less will race against each other.

2. Boats 1.1 feet to 5 feet in length will race against each other.

3. Boats 5.1 feet to 10 feet in length will race against each other.

The winners from each category will then race to determine a grand prize winner.

Prizes will be announced the day of the races.  There will be a total of 4 prizes given away for the winners of each race.  Other prizes will be:

1. People’s Choice!

2. Best Held Together!

3. Most Original!

4. Most Dramatic Sinking!

5. Most Recycled Material!
