Camden, Tenn.–LONG-time Camden Lions Club member Ray Smith has been awarded a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award. How long has he been a member, you say? 64 years. Yes, that’s right.
Smith has been a member of the Lions Club for some 64 years, having first joined in October of 1959.
The Award that was presented to Smith was a restored gavel and gong that was salvaged from the fire that destroyed the old Country and Western Steakhouse in May 2021. The Steakhouse had served as the meeting place for the Lions Club for many years. The restoration was performed by One Stop Signs in Camden, which is located in the same building where Ray Smith started his first car dealership in the early 1960s.
Members of Ray’s family attending the presentation included his wife, Wilma, son Brent and daughter-in-law Wanda.
