
Martin, Tenn.–A woman was charged after an early-morning shooting in Martin.
At around 2 a.m. this morning, officers of the Martin Police Dept. responded to Church St. on a shots fired call.
Police Chief Don Teal said, “When officers arrived on the scene they observed 42-year-old victim Jason Harrell in a physical altercation with 40-year-old Freda Holmes in the parking lot of Cadillac’s Bar. After investigation officers learned that a verbal altercation escalated into Holmes brandishing a handgun and shooting Harrell while he was sitting in his vehicle. The two then struggled at which time another shot was fired.”
Officers arrested Holmes at the scene and Harrell was transported to Volunteer Community Hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at time of this release.
Holmes has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment (Serious Injury or Use of a Deadly Weapon). The incident is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
