
Ruth Soriano Gallinero Marcella, 85, of Paris, Tennessee, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, peacefully in her sleep.
She was born Wednesday, September 22, 1937, in Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines to the late Blas and Concepta Gallenero.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila, Philippines.
As a decorated writer and editor, she published short stories, novelettes, and feature articles in numerous Filipino magazines.
She received accolades such as World Book Worldwide District Manager of the Year as well as Miss Colgate Philippines.
She also worked in collaboration with US-based Healthcare Staffing Resources.
After an incredible career, she nurtured a growing extended family overseas in the US and settled in Paris, TN.
Ruth was married on May 19, 1961, to Juanito Marcella and he preceded in death on March 10, 2012.
She is survived by two daughters: Amalia Lourdes Marcella, of Memphis, and Marion Marcella Sill, of Ohio; three sons: Israel Marcella, of Murfreesboro, Emmanuel Marcella, of Nashville and John Marcella, of Memphis. She also leaves 14 grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St., Paris, Tennessee, 38242. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Paris, Tennessee, with Rev. Donatus Ekwe officiating.
Burial will follow the service in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
