Paris, Tenn.–Anyone interested in growing culinary and medicinal mushrooms at home has a great opportunity to learn how with Mushrooms 101, a two-hour class to be held at Itty Bitty Trees, a local bonsai and tropical plant shop in downtown Paris, on July 15.
This introductory workshop will guide you on how to grow mushrooms confidently at home and provide you with a specialty mushroom fruiting chamber and two blocks of culinary mushrooms to take home to grow.
The popularity of mushrooms and home mushroom cultivation has exploded over the past few years as hobbyists and chefs have turned to mushrooms as both a rewarding hobby and as an essential ingredient for healthier plant-based eating.
Mushrooms 101 is taught by amateur mycologist, Randall Bedwell, who, along with his son, John, began growing and selling culinary mushrooms with names like Lion’s Mane, Pink Oyster, and Porcini to local restaurants around the Nashville area under the name business name, Earth, Wind & Mushrooms, a few years ago.
The goal of this class, and other monthly mushroom classes to be offered by Itty Bitty Trees, is to be a central hub for dedicated mushroom hobbyists who enjoy growing and cooking culinary mushrooms and sharing knowledge around the fascinating hobby of mycology.
