Dover, Tenn.–A Clarksville man was arrested on criminal littering charges after trash was dumped at the boat ramp in Bellwood in Stewart County over the weekend.

On Saturday July 1st, Sheriff Frankie Gray received a call of trash being dump at the boat ramp in Bellwood. He responded and after going through the trash was able to obtain enough evidence to bring charges against a Clarksville man who was picked up and arrested on Monday July 3rd for Criminal Littering. A bond of $1,000 was set and an August 1 court date scheduled.

Gray said, “In the past 2 years over 50% of criminal littering charges taken out has been for people who do not live in our county. We want to thank the residents of Bellwood who not only called the Sheriff to report this but also those who cleaned it up. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to help keep our county clean and by being responsible for their trash and to report littering violations.”
