Paris Utility Authority Approves 2024 Budgets

Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Utility Authority (PUA) Board of Directors monthly meeting for June began with a re-election
of board officers. The election was prompted by the reappointment of Michael Murphey to a new four-year term.
David Flowers and Butch Powers will remain Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively. Bethany Edwards will
continue to serve as Secretary/Treasurer.

The board formally approved the fiscal year 2024 budgets in all three departments. A thorough presentation of
the budgets was given at the May meeting. Terry Wimberley, President & CEO, emphasized that the utility is
entering a fourth consecutive year with no electric rate increase. Extra revenues from water and wastewater rate
increases are included in the budgets to continue to address infrastructure issues.

In other business, a list of professional service providers who will serve the utility during the next fiscal year were
approved. The list includes legal, financial and engineering consultants. The board also passed a resolution to
request the balance of unclaimed property from the State of Tennessee. Additionally, Mary Kate Ridgeway was
reappointed to the Paris BPU Round Up board for a new five-year term.

In his President’s report, PUA President & CEO, Terry Wimberley, informed the Board about a special called
meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. to address the interconnection of a future solar installation to
the Paris BPU electric grid. Wimberley also introduced Alec Jones as his employee guest. Jones has been with
Paris BPU for 8 months and works on the right-of-way crew.

The July monthly meeting of the Board is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2023.
