Paris, Tenn.–The case of simple assault against a Paris attorney has been dismissed in Henry County Circuit Court.
A mistrial in the case against Attorney Mike Ainley was declared earlier this month as a jury trial was ready to commence. The charges have now been dismissed altogether.
Ainley was indicted in March on a charge of simple assault.
A jury had been seated in the trial when the parties agreed to a mistrial declaration during a sidebar with Judge Roy Morgan. A jury trial had been rescheduled for July 14 in the local courtroom. Ainley is represented by Jackson Attorney Daniel Taylor and the state is represented by Assistant District Attorney Joseph Hall. Judge Roy Morgan Jr. was presiding over the proceedings.
An order of nolle prosequi dismissing the case was filed, with all parties involved signing the order.
