Dyersburg, Tenn.–The city of Dyersburg has saluted one of its own who was one of those who stormed the beaches at D-Day on June 6, 1944.

Jack Claiborne will turn 99 in September. He was a helmsman in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He is a 1943 Dyersburg High School graduate who, at the age of 19, was one of thousands of young men from across America who were part of the invasion that day.
