Union City, Tenn.–The Union City High School soccer team collected its share of individual awards following the completion of the 2023 season.

Miguel Sanchez was chosen as the District 13-A Most Valuable Player for a Tornado squad that won five times despite having just one senior on its roster. Sanchez – a four-year standout who was limited to half the season due to a broken leg suffered midway through the year – still was second on the team in goals (7) and total points (20).

Three other UC players (Angel Martinez, Silverio Acevedo, and Cohen Robinson) were picked for the All-District team, while three more (Gavin Morgan, Joseph Lattus, and goalie Jayce Rogers) were tabbed for All-Tournament honors.

Acevedo led the team in assists with five, while Morgan was No. 3 on the team in shots taken. Lattus was third in shots on goal, while Rogers set the program’s single-game mark for saves and ended up with 142 total for the season.
