Westview Softball Advances To First Ever State Title Game

Playing in the program’s first State Tournament in 13 years, the Westview Lady Chargers Softball team is making more history. On Thursday morning, The Lady Chargers held off the Lady Tigers of Waverly 4-3 in the winner’s bracket championship, to advance the program’s first ever State Final. Previously, Westview had never finished higher than 5th.

McCall Simms dominated in the circle, striking out 13 batters, and scattering 2 hits across 2 innings. Simms helped her own cause with 2 runs scored, while Emma Barner drove in 2 runs to power Westview to the win. Westview will play the winner of Forrest and Waverly for the Class 2A State Title on Friday at 11:30am with a a decisive final game to be played at 1:30 if Westview loses the first game.
