Paris, Tenn.–The weekend’s first annual Eiffel Tower Pickleball Classic was a success by any measure, according to oganizers. A total 114 entrants representing five states competed in the three-day event, which began Friday and ended Sunday afternoon.
Paris Pickleball Club Vice President and Tournament Chair Adam Prince thanked Myra Krenis with the Pickleball Brackets organization for what he termed a seamless tournament and the players and volunteers for making it an exciting and fun event. Prince also thanked the national and local sponsors whose help will enable Paris Parks and Recreation to improve lighting at the courts. He gave particular thanks to SetCo as presenting sponsor.
SetCo President, Mohsin Virani, (who is also president of the Paris Pickleball Club) said he was extremely pleased with the weekend. Virani said he became aware of a unique opportunity here to expand not only Pickleball, but the Paris area as a destination. “Paris Parks and Recreation has provided the perfect backdrop to make us a Mecca for the fastest growing sport in America today. It is a sport that is non-restrictive and independent of age, mobility or inate athleticism.”
He said he sees it as a way to include high schoolers and senior citizens on the same courts enjoying their shared loved of Pickleball and the interactions and community that creates. His goal is to conduct three events per year, each expanding and improving on the last. Virani particularly wanted to thank Adam Prince and Sharon Sabin who were Chair and Co-Chair for making this event one for the record books.
