
McKenzie, Tenn.–A two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon in Carroll County claimed the life of a 54-year-old McKenzie man who served for years as a firefighter and EMS medic.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has released the report of the accident, which occurred at 12:39 p.m. at the intersection of Old McKenzie Rd. and Hwy. 22. McKenzie Fire & Rescue had earlier reported it as a two-vehicle accident with entrapment.
According to the report, the accident claimed the life of William Bullington, age 54, of McKenzie. Bullington was a former McKenzie firefighter, serving as a Captain and Chaplain. McKenzie Fire & Rescue issued a statement: “After leaving our department he continued to serve the community by working with several EMS agencies in the area. He spent his career helping others throughout West Tennessee. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family along with his first responder family.”
The driver of the vehicle in which he was riding was listed as Bonnie Bullington, age 46, of McKenzie, driving a 2017 Chevy Sonic. She was injured in the accident, but the extent of injuries is not included in the report.
The driver of the other vehicle is listed as Bryan Cross, age 26, of Tennessee, driving a 2013 Ford F150. He also was injured.
According to the report, all three persons were wearing their seatbelts.
In addition to the McKenzie Fire & Rescue, also on scene was Carrol County EMS, McKenzie Police, Carroll Co. Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol.
