Benton Co. Boating Accident Claims Life

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn.— Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers are investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred on Saturday, May 13. Jonathan A. Miller, a 24-year-old resident from Lawrence County, lost his life when his boat capsized on Kentucky Lake near Big Sandy in Benton County.

The Benton County Rescue Squad recovered the body. This is the ninth fatal boating incident in Tennessee this year. Mr. Miller was not wearing a lifejacket.

Benton County deputies, TWRA, Benton County Rescue Squad, Big Sandy Fire Department and EMS responded. The 911 caller reportedly told first responders that the boat flipped with the victim on board. Persons nearby attempted to rescue the victim before emergency personnel arrived.
