PARIS, Tenn.—The Little Pantries of Henry County organization is selling t-shirts as a fundraiser to provide food for the little pantries located throughout the county in conjunction with World Hunger Day.
Food insecurity is defined by the United States Department of Agriculture as the lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life. According to Feeding America’s data from 2021, almost 5,000 people in Henry County are classified as food insecure.
“This means there are hungry people, hungry families, and hungry children in our very own community that need our help,” according to Pastor Emily Walker of the Little Pantries organization. “World Hunger Day is May 28th and we would love for people to wear their shirts that day in support of our little pantries and continue to wear their shirts after World Hunger Day to help create awareness. Caring about our neighbors is more than a short-term mission. It is a way of life.”
The shirts feature the Little Pantries of Henry County logo on the front and the words, “Hunger knows no season, Matthew 25:35” on the back. They are available in a variety of colors. Orders must be placed by May 14 for the shirts to be received in time for World Hunger Day.
To order a shirt, call Trinity United Methodist Church at 731-642-3427.
The Little Pantries of Henry County was organized by local Methodist churches in 2021 to help fight food insecurity in Henry County by erecting and supporting little pantries in the area. Since that time, the organization has expanded to include other churches and organizations with pantries in the county and assists in supporting all Henry County pantries as resources are available.
