Union City, Tenn.–The reward for good grades and good behavior was an afternoon at the local skating rink for a large group of deserving Union City Middle School male athletes.

More than 40 football and basketball players in the 6th and 7th grades met standards of exemplary actions set by UCMS coach Cole Clanton and were treated to an afternoon of fun.

The group — accompanied by assistant coaches Josh Keown and Hunter Rice — enjoyed playing multiple games in addition to skating and also had snacks.

“This was a little something we used as an incentive to reward our athletes who committed to consistently doing the right things,” Clanton said. “It’s important for us to acknowledge our kids when they meet the criteria we’ve set for those who choose to participate in our programs.

“Being respectful of teachers and others will never go out of style. That and being a good student will always be part of being a Golden Tornado athlete.”
