Happy Hush Puppies! World’s Biggest Fish Fry Begins Saturday

Paris, Tenn.–It’s that time again. Time for the World’s Biggest Fish Fry, a week-long extravaganza with fried catfish, hush puppies, music, dancing, parades, carnival rides, fishing, fancy cars and more.

Some of the highlights: The Dwayne Baldwin Grand Parade is Friday at 10 a.m.; the Catfish Tent opens on Wednesday at 5 p.m. and is open for four days; the carnival begins Tuesday and runs for six days; the Small Fry Parade is Saturday at 10 a.m. There is a rodeo show, dances, car show, demolition derby, fishing rodeo–in short just about anything to strike your fancy.

The Fish Fry kicks off Saturday with the Hushpuppy Dah 5K at 8 a.m. at the Henry County Fairgrounds, with the car show throughout the day at the Krider Performing Arts Center parking lot and the demolition derby at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

The Kick Off Street Dance is set for 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 24 in downtown Paris with the Ray Lewis Band.

The carnival starts at the fairgrounds Tuesday at 5 p.m. and runs through April 30.

Tuesday is the Country Dance with the James Greer Band at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

On Wednesday, Hostess Princess Madison Vermillion will toss out the first hush puppy to open the Fish Tent and you can be sure there will be a line for the plates of fresh fried catfish, hush puppies, slaw, french fries for $15 for adults, $12 for children 6-12. The Fish Tent is open through Saturday.

The Christian concert is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the fairgrounds with the Jonathan Turner Band.

Arts and Crafts are on display at the fairgrounds starting Thursday through Saturday.

The Grand Parade is at 10 a.m. Friday on East Wood St. The rodeo is at the fairgrounds Friday and Saturday evenings.

On Saturday, the Small Fry Parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Paris, followed by catfish races, the Junior Fishing Rodeo at Williams Lake and the Amateur Boxing Show on the court square.
