Mr. William S. “Jiggs” Francis, 94, of Memphis, Tennessee, was called home to be with the Lord Monday, April 17, 2023 at Kirby Pine Life Care Community.
He was born in Stewart, Tennessee, the beloved son of the late James William and Sudie Hargis Francis.
William served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed a good round of golf.
William was a faithful servant; he attended Bumpus Mills Church of Christ and most recently attended Germantown United Methodist Church for the past 25 years.
William was a hard worker and provider for his family. The word “quit” was not in his vocabulary. His son lovingly referred to him as “IronMan”.
He retired as a Senior Underwriter for The Hartford Insurance Company.
He was a loving, caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a loyal friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Peter K. Francis; and his sisters: Wilmuth Lyons and Mary Schlemmer.
He leaves behind his loving wife, of 67 years: Brittye Link Francis; brother: Wilton “Pep” Francis, of Pleasant Hill, California; granddaughter” Mary Elizabeth Francis and grandson: John Luttrell Francis, both of Memphis, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Anglin Funeral Home, Dover, Tennessee. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the hour of the funeral service. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
