Dover, Tenn.–The Stewart County Prevention Coalition has secured a $1M grant to help provide housing for single women in recovery.

Plans are to purchase the former Sunset Motor Inn and convert it into apartments for single women who are working through recovery. Sheriff Frankie Gray–who is President of the Coalition–said the grant comes with a $154,000 recurring operational support fee.

Gray said, “Many members worked to get this done as well as Chris Dowdy of Mossy Oak Properties. The real hero in this is Director Melissa Fields who worked tirelessly with a never quit work ethic. I know at times she felt she was banging her head against a wall but she continued the effort. Not only does the SCPC owe her a big thanks but so does everyone who pushes for addressing substance abuse rehabilitation and help for those wanting to over come their addiction.”

The sheriff said, “Many people believed this grant was out of reach but she made it happen. This grant proves things can be accomplished by never giving up. The real work is ahead but future help for single women who need a hand in recovery is coming.”
