
Erin, Tenn.–Firefighters in Houston County worked hard to contain the forest fire that engulfed a 45-acre area near Erin Thursday evening. The Erin Fire Department said this morning the fire is contained but there will still be spot fires within the contained area for awhile. The fire was between Midway Drive and Rocky Hollow.
Wide fire breaks were cut by the State Forestry Service and numerous area fire departments were on scene.
Erin City Officials said, “We appreciate all of you for your willingness to serve not only your own community, but the surrounding communities as well. City of Erin Fire Department, Houston County Fire Department, Stewart County Fire Department, Tennessee Department of Forestry, City of Erin Police Department and the Houston Co. Sheriff Department, Tennessee Ridge Fire Department, Humphreys County Sheriff Department with a drone, New Johnsonville with a forestry team” were all on scene.
