Fulton, Ky.–The Fulton County Middle School student who drowned during a Spring Break trip in Florida over the weekend has been identified.
School Superintendent Patrice Chambers identified the student as Cylen Freeman, age 13, of Hickman, in a Twitter post. She said, “It is with a heavy heart that Fulton County Middle School has lost a 7th grade student. This Spring Break tragedy at the beach has broken our hearts”.
As previously reported, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release saying the drowning occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. Deputies were called at 11:30 a.m. on a report of a distressed swimmer. According to the sheriff’s office, a group of surfers had already rescued other juveniles who were struggling in the water.
