Paris, Tenn.–The new Paris Police bicycle patrol made its deput at Saturday’s Easter Egg Hunt at Eiffel Tower Park.

Lt. Michael Ramos and Officer Adam Bevill were on hand at the event and will be seen often around Paris and at special events.

Police Chief Ricky Watson said, “Not too many agencies in West Tennessee are able to do this and we’re real proud that we can.” The Paris Police Department already had one bike and a second was donated by a private citizen, he said.

Ramos will be supervisor and more officers will be added as they are certified, Watson said.

The role of the bike patrol will be expanded in the summer as more events are held, he said. The bikes can operate at speeds up to 25 mph or so and weigh 75 pounds.
