
Hardin County, Tenn.–The search for the man missing in the Tennessee River near Savannah continues.
The missing boater has been identified as Bill Mayfield.
Search teams have been on site since March 23. Over the weekend, search teams from Hardin County Fire Department, Savannah Tennessee, TWRA, Hardin & Fayette EMA and BRADEN FIRE DEPT. Water Rescue/Recovery Unit ran sonar and ROV over several miles of Tennessee River with no success.
At 5:44 pm March 23, firefighters responded approximately two miles below the Pickwick Dam on reported boating accident. Initial reports indicated two people in the water and a boat going in circles on the river. Firefighters in a rescue boat located one adult male on the west bank of the river and he was transported to the boat ramp and evaluated by EMS. The second adult male did not make it to shore and is still missing.
