Hazel, Ky.–A couple from Hazel were arrested over the weekend on several charges, which included assault on an officer.
Jimmy Scott, age 51, was charged with trafficking first degree; fleeing and evading; assault on a police officer; resisting arrest; obstructing governmental operations; and disorderly conduct. Brandy Briggs Scott, age 39, was charged with obstructing governmental operations; disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
During the course of an investigation Calloway County Deputies encountered Jimmy Scott and Brandy Scott outside a residence in Hazel.
According to the press release, the subjects became hostile and a deputy was struck in the face by Jimmy Scott while trying to detain him. Jimmy Scott attempted to flee when a taser was used to gain control. Brandy was also detained after being combative. Further investigation revealed that there were several small baggies of methamphetamine located under a tire of a vehicle where Jimmy Scott had initially been contacted. Both subjects were lodged at the Calloway County Detention Center on the below listed charges:
