Union City, Tenn.–Future Union City Golden Tornadoes turned out in bunches Thursday.

A steady stream of parents and prospective students flocked to the UC Elementary School campus for the 2023-24 Pre-K registration and kindergarten screening.

Parents began the annual process of enrolling their children for the next school year by completing the necessary registration paperwork. There was also some initial informal testing in one-on-one settings between teachers and members of the Classes of 2036 and 2037.

There were plenty of photo opportunities, spirit wear available for purchase, and snacks provided, too. Information on after-school programs was shared, as was details about the many in-school opportunities for students.

Top-level school administrators — including UCES principal Allison Palmer and Vice Principal Bill Kail — and a number of elementary  teachers were all on hand to welcome interested parties and assist with the sign-up necessities.

Plans are for there to be six pre-K classes and seven kindergarten classes next year in the UC School System.

“To see the next group of Golden Tornadoes walk through the door is always heartwarming,” Palmer said. “They are so excited. They’re inquisitive, and they warm up quickly to our surroundings.

“Equally as important to me, you can see the look of trust and faith on the faces of their parents as they watch their children come in and become immediately engaged. Every student has a place here. And I truly believe we offer the complete education experience here at Union City Schools.

“It’s always a great day to be a Golden Tornado!”

Students will be allowed to register for both Pre-K and Kindergarten until the 2023-24 school year begins in August. For more information, call (731-885-1632) or visit UCES during regular school hours.
