
Paris, Tenn.–A Battle of Paris Commemoration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, on the Henry County Court Square. Oganizers said the event is a Living History educational event geared toward the whole family.
Period reenactors will be on hand to talk about life as a soldier and how families coped during the Civil War in our area.
Relics of war weaponry will be displayed, as well as reproduction cannons, an array of Civil War flags and Civil War-era muskets.
Educational “stations” are being manned by experts in many aspects of mid 19th century life from all over West Tennessee and Kentucky. The Orphan Brigade Cannon Crew from Paducah will feature their cannon and caisson working display. A color guard from Camp Heiman in Murray will demonstrate marching cadence. In all, over a dozen experts will display and demonstrate.
Perry’s BBQ will be the food vendor on site.
The event is sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
