
Paris, Tenn.–Meeting in regular session, the Paris Utility Authority (PUA) Board of Directors approved an engineering agreement with OHM Advisors for services associated with planned water system improvements. The improvements will replace around four miles of water main in the downtown area and as well as areas just west of downtown.
PUA is applying for a $5 million loan from USDA Rural Development to fund all engineering and construction costs. Construction is expected to begin by early 2024.
The board also approve the purchase of a 2022 Ford Lightning all-electric pick-up truck to replace a 2017 model pick-up according to the normal replacement schedule. The $55,309 purchase is from Peppers Ford in McKenzie.
CEO Terry Wimberley then introduced board guest Pat Neighbors. Neighbors joined the utility in 2007 as Water Lab Manager. In 2010, Neighbors became Wastewater Lab Manager and has remained in the role ever since. Neighbors’ lab work ensures the plant is operating at its optimum level while also monitoring compliance with state and federal permit requirements. Neighbors plays an important role for the utility.
The March meeting of the Board is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. The early start time will allow board and staff to get to the solar Flip the Switch event at 11:00 a.m. in Puryear.
