
Atwood, Tenn.–A six-hour standoff in Atwood ended about 10:30 p.m. Thursday night with the suspect in custody and in serious condition from a gunshot wound.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, McKenzie Police, Jackson Police and more were on site throughout the afternoon and evening, beginning at 4 p.m.
The incident began with a call of shots fired on Hamilton Street. Reports are that gunfire was exchanged between the suspect, Jason Todd Perry, age 49, of Hamilton St. and the police.
The standoff ended when the Jackson Police SWAT team entered the home.
Law enforcement told RadioNWTN that the suspect shot at officers and was shot in return, at which point he retreated back into the house and the standoff began.
