lbl-hogs

Access will be interrupted to some areas of Land Between the Lakes during the week of February 21-24 for a feral swine eradication project. Temporary road and trail closures will be in place throughout this operational timeframe. If a barricade is encountered on a road or trail, please do not go past it. Visitors will be notified of closures and informed of any changes through the official Land Between the Lakes Alerts webpage: www.landbetweenthelakes.us/alerts.
February 21-24: North/South Trail closed from South Welcome Station to Golden Pond Visitor Center. Public access will be restricted to all roads, trails, and facilities on the west side of the Trace from FS Road 171 south to FS Road 221. This includes all dispersed camping in these boundaries, Redd Hollow Campground, and Ginger Bay Camping Area.
Wednesday, February 22: Wranglers Trails will be closed.
Approximately 305 feral hogs were removed from Land Between the Lakes in January 2023 using multiple hog eradication techniques that did not include hunting. We have evolved our tactics targeting feral hogs at Land Between the Lakes and continue to see more success. In 2019, 124 wild hogs were removed using almost exclusively trapping techniques alone. In 2020, we added the use of helicopters removing 534 between trapping and aerial operations. A total of 96 wild hogs were removed in one day during the first aerial operations campaign in 2020. We removed 241 in 2021 limited greatly because of COVID measures. We continue to be successful using multiple methods to target wild hogs, but the invasive animals remain at Land Between the Lakes.
