Paris, Tenn.–First Baptist Church raised a whopping $36,771 Saturday to put the Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction at a grand total of $333,050 for the year. And there is still a week and a half to go of the annual auction that raises thousands of dollars each year for over 80 local non-profit and public service groups.
With 447 items donated by First Baptist members, it amounted to 40 slates Saturday, which included day and night auctions.
The total raised in the day auction was $20,733, the total raised during the night auction was $16,038. The silent auction in the evening included over 30 Volunteers’ collectibles donated by the Joe Houston family. First Baptist members also served lunch during the day.
Saturday’s donations featured a wide variety of items–from baked goods, full meals, oiginal artwork, antiques and much more.
Monday will be another big day, with items to be donated by the FFA, Young Farmers and Ranchers, 4-H Clubs of Henry County, the HCHS No Fly Zone, Eiffel Gardens, and HC Basketball Boosters.
Looking ahead, Tuesday’s items will be donated by Paris City employees, the BPU, Buchanan and Como communities and Project Help. On Wednesday, items are donated by Van Dyke/Routon communities, and Spring Hill Baptist Church.
The auction started January 9 and runs through March 1. Helping Hand is known for unique and homemade items which often raise large sums.
