Mrs. Joyce Newman Smith, 90, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born Saturday, January 21, 1933, in Carroll County, Tennessee, to Curtis and Amanda Perritt Newman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years: Carl Smith; a daughter: Leigh Ann Smith Pinson; two sisters: Dorothy Carter and Bobbie Sue Pinson; one great-grandson: Quinn Lee Pinson and her parents.
She was a member of First Baptist Church McKenzie and retired from the local grocery store as a bakery employee.
She is survived by a son: Tracy (Deidre) Smith, of Tiplersville, Mississippi; two brothers: Marvin (Mary) Newman, of McKenzie; and Donald (Betty) Newman, of Jackson; five grandchildren: Jeremiah Pinson, Luke(Savannah) Pinson, Amber Smith, Ethan (Journey) Smith and Maddie Beth Garland; and a great-grandson: Joseph Pinson.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith are Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Huntingdon. The family will receive friends on Wednesday 12:00 p.m. until service time.
