Paris, Tenn.–To say Saturday was a big day at the Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction would be an understatement.

With the whopping $31,626 raised by the First United Methodist Church, the grand total for the year is now at $273,,600. And there’s still two and a half weeks to go.

The First United Methodist Church really showed out Saturday, donating 38 slates of items for the afternoon and evening auctions. Plus, they served soups for lunch during the day.

The total raised for the afternoon auction was $20,025, with $11,601 raised at the evening auction. The Paris Convention Center was crowded all day with members bidding on items–and bids were high. Items donated ranged from full meals, homemade craft items, homemade bread, baked goods, casseroles, and more.

Darrin Thompson was the afternoon auctioneer and Doug Taylor was the evening auctioneer.

Helping Hand raises thousands of dollars each year for over 80 non-profit and public service groups. It started January 9 and runs through March 1. Helping Hand is known for unique and homemade items which often raise large sums.
