Henry Co. Middle School Speech Team Excels At Patriot Invitational

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Middle School Speech Team competed in their home town Patriot Invitational at Lakewood School on February 4th, and placed 2nd overall out of 6 schools from Murray to the Nashville area.

The following individuals from Lakewood placed in their events;

Timothy Tyler – 1st in Declamation, 1st in Impromptu Speaking and 3rd in Broadcasting

Lane Snow – 4th in Broadcasting

Hannah Frederick – 1st in Broadcasting, 3rd in Prose

Ava Swayne – 4th in Declamation

Laynie Murray – 3rd in Dramatic Interp

Murray and Swayne – 1st in Improvisational Duo

Scarlett Roberts – 2nd in Poetry

Parker Vowell and Scarlett Roberts – 2nd in Duo Acting

Madison Duncan – 4th in Extemp

Cullie Snow – 6th in Storytelling

The following students from Harrelson placed in their events;

Sophie Staggs – 1st in Dramatic Interp, 2nd in Broadcasting

Maple Townsend – 6th in Declamation, 6th in Impromptu, 3rd in Humorous Interp

Natalie Vance – 5th in Impromptu

Landon Merrell – 5th in Prose

The team will travel to Rossview in Clarksville for their final tournament of the regular season on February 11th.  The National Tournament will be the next contest they attend this summer in Phoenix, AZ.  The team is coached by David Weatherly.
