Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Helping Hand Radio Auction topped the $200,000 mark–and then some–Saturday.
With items donated by Henry County Medical Center at two auctions Saturday, Helping Hand has now raised $205,774 so far this year.
A whopping 28 slates of items were donated by HCMC, ranging from baked goods, gift baskets, homemade craft items, full dinners, soups, gumbo and more. At the aftenoon auction, $5,227 was raised, while $1,532 was raised in the evening auction.
Ray Compton was the afternoon auction, while Noel Hatman was the evening auctioneer. The Henry County High School Baseball Team volunteered Saturday, helping donors load and unload items.
Helping Hand raises thousands of dollars each year for over 80 non-profit and public service groups. It started January 9 and runs through March 1. Helping Hand is known for unique and homemade items which often raise large sums.
Looking ahead to next week, Monday, February 6 will see items donated from First Christian Church, Habitat for Humanity and the Literacy Council. On Tuesday will be Veterans organizations, VFW, AMVETS, Darkhorse Lodge, American Legion and Elks.
You can listen to all the action on our stations at 104.7FM or 1000AM (WHNY “Big Henry”) or you can listen on our website at www.radionnwtn.com. You can bid over the phone or in person at the Paris Convention Center.
