
In an abundance of caution, Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway has announced county general government offices will again close Wednesday, February 1 due to winter weather. This includes the Courthouse, Annex, Airport, Health Dept, Recycling Center, Central Services Building, Election Commission, Archives, and other general govt offices.
Henry County General Sessions Criminal Court will be closed Wednesday as well. Those who had court cases scheduled for Tuesday or Wednesday in General Sessions Criminal Court and are represented by an attorney should contact their attorney to ask about their new court date.
Those who are representing themselves without legal counsel should contact the court clerk’s office on the next business day that we are open to inquire of their new court date. The court clerk’s office phone number is 731-642-0461.
Side roads and sidewalks in and around downtown Paris continue to be hazardous with another round of ice and sleet that fell today. More accumulation of freezing rain and ice is expected through Tuesday evening. No decision has been made in regard to opening on Thursday. An announcement will be made Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has extended the Ice Storm Warning for Henry County through 6 am on Thursday morning. A third round of ice is now expected Wednesday night. Temperatures will remain below freezing this evening so roads and sidewalks will be very slick in the morning. Temperatures are expected to rebound to 38 degrees on Thursday.
