Camden Is “Lightning Capital” Of Tennessee

Camden, Tenn.–Camden is the ‘lightning capital’ of Tennessee, according to the annual report of weather phenomena by Vaisala, a global environmental group which keeps track of such things.

According to the latests data, Camden has more lightning strikes than any other city in Tennessee, with 147 strikes per square kilometer.

Tennessee is ranked No. 12 among U.S. states ranked by total lightning density and is anked No. 18 by total lightning counts, at 4,223,726 in 2022.

Four Corners, Florida, an area just a few miles to the south and west of Orlando, was found to have the highest lightning strike density of anywhere in the entire U.S.
