Impersonation Of Martin Investigator Leads To Charges

Martin, Tenn.–A couple has been charged with criminal impersonation after they obtained a motel room in Martin, claiming that one of them was an Investigator with the Martin Police.

According to the police report, Elizabeth Sappington, age 30, utilized the name of a female Investigator when booking the room for herself and her boyfriend, Stephen Nugent, age 41.

Martin Police responded to the Hampton Inn the morning of December 22 after the motel called police.

Sappington was charged with criminal impersonation and theft of services. Nugent was charged with theft of services and simple possession after it was determined that he had a small bag of meth.

The total amount of restitution owed to Hampton Inn for the room is $150.81.
